TOWN OF WESTON BOARD MINUTES
December 21, 2010
1. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE/CALL TO ORDER:
Chairman Milton Olson called the December 21, 2010 Town of Weston Board meeting to order at 6:34 pm. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisors present: Arnie Baumann, Walter John Chilsen, Tom Salzman and Robert Wesenick. Also present were Clerk/Treasurer Joan Erdman, Chief Wally Sparks of the EMPD and one visitor.
2. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS TOWN MEETINGS
a. Approval of November 16, 2010 Town Board Meeting: Salzman/Baumann M/S to approve the minutes of the November 16, 2010 Town Board Meeting. Q/C.
b. Acknowledge Receipt of November 16, 2010 Plan Commission Public Hearing Minutes: Salzman/Baumann M/S to acknowledge receipt of the November 16, 2010 Plan Commission Minutes. Q/C
c. Town of Weston Public Budget Hearing—November 23, 2010: Salzman/Chilsen M/S to approve minutes of the November 23, 2010 Public Budget Hearing. Q/C.
d. Town of Weston Meeting of the Electors—November 23, 2010: Salzman/Wesenick M/S to approve the minutes of the November 23, 2010 Meeting of the Electors. Q/C.
e. Town of Weston Special Meeting to Adopt 2011 Budget—November 23, 2010: Baumann/Salzman M/S to approve the minutes of the November 23, 2010 Special Meeting to adopt the 2011 Budget. Q/C.
3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None
4. VISITORS: None
5. POLICE REPORT (Chief Sparks): The newly hired patrol officer is working out well. The DNR has issued Urban Deer Hunt permits for the Vern Lane area to help control the deer population. Officer Dennis Walkowski was injured during a search warrant and is on light duty. One squad car was hit while an officer was investigating an accident on December 9. Representatives of the EMPD, the Rothschild Police Dept. and two D.C. Everest resource officers met with administrators of the D.C. Everest School District to develop an emergency response system. Training to test the new system will be held next summer at Mt. Bay and the Middle School.
6. FIRE REPORT: The statistical report for November was distributed to Board members and will be included with the official minutes. There were no calls in the Town for November.
7. NEW BUSINESS
a. Vouchers 3799-3831: Chilsen/Wesenick M/S to approve vouchers 3799-3831. Q/C.
b. Rural Mutual Insurance: Jennifer Howen of Rural Mutual Insurance updated Board members on our current insurance coverage. Chilsen/Wesenick M/S to include the Employee Volunteer Worker Personal Auto Coverage to our liability coverages. Q/C.
8. COMMITTEE REPORTS
a. Public Works (Arnie Baumann): Discussion was held on the protocol to follow for emergency snow plowing. Supervisor Baumann will check with the Village to see who to contact.
b. Public Safety (Robert Wesenick): No report.
c. Parks Committee (Walter John Chilsen):
9. CLERK’S REPORT (Joan Erdman): Tax collections will take place on Tuesday, December 28 and Friday, December 31 from 10:00am to 1:00 pm. Supervisor Wesenick will assist on Tuesday and Supervisor Baumann on Friday. Tax collections will also take place on Monday, January 31, from 5:00-7:00 pm. Supervisor Salzman will assist.
10. SUPERVISOR REPORTS
a. Baumann: No report.
b. Wesenick: No report.
c. Chilsen: No report.
d. Salzman: No report.
10. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT: Chairman Olson reported that the will be in Texas for the months of January, February and March. Supervisor Chilsen will take over Chairman responsibilities in his absence. Flowers had been sent to the funeral of Joanne Walters, wife of Town of Texas Chairman. The Focus newsletter has been mailed to Town residents with a Wausau address.
