TOWN OF WESTON BOARD MINUTES
January 20, 2009
1. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE/CALL TO ORDER
Supervisor Walter John Chilsen called the meeting to order at 6:30
PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisors Present:
Arnie Baumann, Walter John Chilsen, Tom Salzman, Robert Wesenick.
Also present was Clerk/Treasurer, Joan Erdman. Visitors: Kris
Grod and Steve Meilahn of the Weston Fire Department and Scott
Sleeter of EMPD.
2. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS TOWN MEETINGS
Planning Commission Meeting-January 6, 2009: Salzman/Baumann M/S
to acknowledge receipt of the minutes of the January 6, 2009
Planning Commission Meeting. Q/C.
Town Board Meeting—December 16, 2008: Baumann/Wesenick M/S to
approve the minutes of the December 16, 2008 Town of Weston Board
Meeting. Q/C
3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None
4. VISITORS: None
5. POLICE REPORT: Scott Sleeter, Captain of the EMPD and currently
serving as Interim Chief, updated the Board on the recent staffing
changes at the EMPD. The application deadline for Chief is the
23rd of January. The Police Commission will meet on the 28th to
go over the applications for Police Chief.
6. FIRE REPORT: Steve Meilahn went over the Fire & EMS report for
December. There were three ambulance calls and no fire calls for
the Town in December. For 2008, the Town had 16 ambulance calls
and one fire call. The average response time for the Town of
Weston was 5.9 minutes. A copy of the statistical report for
December and 2008 will be included in the minute book.
7. NEW BUSINESS
a. Vouchers 3294-3322: Wesenick/Salzman M/S to approve Vouchers
3294-3322. Q/C
b. Fischer CSM TW 09-01: The Planning Commission has
recommended Board approval of CSM TW-09-01 subject to three
parkland dedication fees and that the subdivider provide a
dedication of right-of-way at the intersection of Gusman and
Gavitt as per the recommendation of the County Surveyor.
Salzman/Wesenick M/S to approve Fischer CSM TW 09-01. Carried.
8. COMMITTEE REPORTS
a. Public Works: No report
b. Public Safety: Supervisor Wesenick reported on the
Committee meeting held last Thursday. The Committee went
over the criteria for hiring a new police chief.
c. Parks Committee: No report.
d. ETZ Committee: No report.
9. CLERK’S REPORT: Tax collections are on target. The last in-
person collection will be held on Saturday, January 31, from
10:00 – 1:00.
10. SUPERVISOR’S REPORT
a. Baumann: Supervisor Baumann reported that he will be checking
with Griesbach regarding TRIP funding.
b. Wesenick: Supervisor Wesenick reported that he had received
complaints on Gusman Road being slippery.
c. Chilsen: Supervisor Chilsen reported that he will be meeting
with Renee Howdell and students at D.C. Everest on the oral
History book of Weston. They are still looking for names of
people to be interviewed for the book. A display of
historical memorabilia from Weston residents is also a
possibility for Weston Fest.
d. Salzman: No report.
11. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT: No report
