TOWN OF WESTON BOARD MINUTES
July 21, 2009
1. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE/CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Milton Olson called the meeting to order at 6:37 pm. Supervisors present: Arnie Baumann, Tom Salzman and Robert Wesenick. Also present was EMPD Captain Jim Vercimak, Fire Chief Steve Meilahn, Marl Thompson and three visitors. Excused were Supervisor Walter John Chilsen and Clerk/Treasurer Joan Erdman.
2. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS TOWN MEETINGS
Town Board Meeting—May 19, 2009: Salzman/Wesenick M/S to approve the June 16, 2009 Board minutes. Q/C
3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None
4. VISITORS: Jerry Petrowski presented highlights from the State budget and miscellaneous topics.
5. POLICE REPORT: Captain Vercimak (Chief Wally Sparks was at the City of Schofield meeting) reported that the Town had 10 calls for service in June — six calls were for traffic stops. Vercimak reviewed each of the topics in the written report..
6. FIRE REPORT: Chief Meilahn reported that the Department continues to look at taking the ambulance service to paramedic level. The findings will be presented to the elected representatives and the oversight committees for final consideration and decision. The statistical report for May (no calls to the Town) was distributed and will be included in the minute book.
7. NEW BUSINESS
a. Vouchers 3421 to 3443: Baumann/Salzman M/S to approve vouchers 3421-3443. Q/C.
b. Weston Sesquicentennial: . Chairman Olson and Supervisor Salzman reviewed final work assignments for this weekend. Olson distributed copies of the booklet.
c. RC Pavers. Randy Christiansen presented a binder containing all of the required permits for the blacktop plant. Work continues on the site. The plant is in a temporary location, a stockpile, in the final location, could not be moved until all of the County permits were received. The plant will be re-set, in the approved location, later in the year as the site work phasing is completed.
8. COMMITTEE REPORTS
a. Public Works (Baumann): The blacktop on Gusman and Gavitt will be completed in the next several weeks. Farhner will be completing the Riverview chip sealing and crack filling. Baumann will be meeting with Jim Reddick on water backing up in the east ditchline of Lester from Kersten northward and flowing out into the adjacent properties.
b. Public Safety (Wesenick): The committee is starting to explore ordinance needs on large special event tents. A deer reduction plan is being considered for the deer population along the river.
c. Parks Committee (Chilsen): No Report.
9. CLERK’S REPORT: Chairman Olson reviewed Clerk Erdman’s written report.
Wisconsin Public Service had, over the past several years, been billing the Town for two street lights which were not in the Town. The total refund amount will be $3,042.87. WPS credited our July statement in the amount of $358.24 and will be issuing the Town a check in the amount of $2,684.63 for the remaining balance. $4,400.00 has been received for the Sesquicentennial/Oral History Project. Thank you letters will be sent to the following businesses for their donations: RC Pavers/Ron Christiansen Trucking, $2,500.00; Greenheck Fan Corporation, $1,000.00; Intercity State Bank, $250.00; Brickner’s of Wausau, $250.00; River Valley State Bank, $250.00; Wisconsin Public Service, $150.00.

11. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT: Chairman Olson announced the Towns Association meeting this Thursday at Rib River Ballroom.
